Bayern Munich suffer injury blow ahead of Barcelona clash

MUNICH, GERMANY - MAY 22: Kingsley Coman of FC Bayern München smiles during the Bundesliga match between FC Bayern Muenchen and FC Augsburg at Allianz Arena on May 22, 2021 in Munich, Germany. After the Bavarian cabinet decided on first relaxations for outdoor events, the current Corona situation allows FC Bayern to have its last match of the season in front of 250 spectators in the Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich are facing a injury headache ahead of their Champions League showdown with Barcelona next week.

Both sides kicked off their Group C campaign with wins, in the 2022/23 ‘Group of Death’, as part of the opening round of fixtures last week.

La Blaugrana thrashed Viktoria Plzen 5-1 at the Camp Nou with Bayern winning 2-0 away at Serie A giants Inter Milan ahead of their meeting.

However, the Bundesliga giants are set to be without French international Kingsley Coman against the Catalans, with reports from Marca stating he is out injured until after the international break.

Coman pulled out of Bayern’s final training session, ahead of their league tie against Stuttgart this weekend, and initial tests on a muscle strain indicate at least two weeks out for the 26-year-old.

German winger Serge Gnabry is likely to replace Coman in Julian Nagelsmann’s starting XI as Robert Lewandowski faces an immediate reunion with his former club.
