Barcelona head coach Xavi has asked for patience as their 2022/23 La Liga season started with a 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano.
La Blaugrana’s build up to the game was dominated by their attempts to register summer signings with La Liga before the deadline.
Barcelona completed the paperwork yesterday on four of their five new faces with Jules Kounde missing out against Andoni Iraola’s side.
Despite creating chances throughout, Barcelona were unable to find a way through, against their resilient hosts in Catalonia, on a frustrating night for the home side.
“Rayo defended very well. It cost us in generating more chances than normal”, as per reports from Marca.
“It’s a pity, as we wanted to show the fans we are on the right track. It’s disappointing, but we ask for patience.”
Barcelona are expected to be busy in the coming days, as the club’s hierarchy aim to reduce their bloated salary bill, and secure Kounde’s place in the squad.
Up next for Xavi’s charges is a trip to the Basque Country next weekend to face Real Sociedad on August 21.

Good game
Barcelona do not need any more signings. Barcelona has quality players currently and Xavi have limited some player’s ability.
1. Dembele is a creative and skillful and must be given a free role to move around and not be limited to play wide at wings.
2. Football has changed and barcelona cannot play like Pep’s time, especially holding the ball for too long at the midfield like Busquet does and Xavi’s time. Its time wasting.The ball must be distributed fast. Barca must be hungry for goals. Infact Busquet is aging and must have less playing time.
3. Arouja must not be played out of position, Pairing him with Kounde or Chriesten is better.
God bless you my dear. You have just said it all. Xavi thinks that his previous style of play is the best. Football now is more competitive and requires physicality. Barca should learn to move faster with ball and stop all this back passes and slow game. Lewandoewski will find it difficult to adapt to this style and will make him score less goals in Barcelona. He doesn’t need more players he got all that he needed to make Barca succeed and so he should work with what he has.
Every players needs to play at there rolls.
