Luis Enrique recalls Barcelona’s Ansu Fati to La Roja

Luis Enrique has recalled Barcelona’s Ansu Fati to La Roja.

The Asturian has named the 25-man squad he’s going to use for Spain’s upcoming Nations League commitments.

La Roja take on Portugal on June second at the Benito Villamarin in Seville before locking horns with the Czech Republic in Prague three days later. They then take on Switzerland in Geneva before entertaining the Czech Republic down in Malaga to finish it off.

Spain will no doubt take this period seriously. The Qatar World Cup is only around the corner and La Roja have every chance of going to the Middle East and winning the competition outright.

They made it to the semi-final of Euro 2020 only to lose to eventual winners Italy before making it to the final of the Nations League only to lose to reigning world champions France.

Luis Enrique’s squad in full can be found below.

Goalkeepers: Unai Simon, Robert Sanchez, David Raya.

Defenders: Inigo Martinez, Pau Torres, Dani Carvajal, Jordi Alba, Eric Garcia, Aymeric Laporte, Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso.

Midfielders: Sergio Busquets, Gavi, Koke, Marcos Llorente, Rodri, Thiago Alcantara, Carlos Soler.

Forwards: Alvaro Morata, Marco Asensio, Raul de Tomas, Dani Olmo, Pablo Sarabia, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres.

  1. Mayne there are so many players that I would not have called up but Enrique does his own thing.

Ansu Fati is not fully fit and this will not help in the long term.

Why do Spanish managers who live and die by tika taka think Eric Garcia is a credible defender?

Shockingly Raul Albiol who in my view was Spain’s best central defender was left out.

Anyone who saw how well he played against world class forwards that play for Bayern and Liverpool will be mystified.

While Garcia was embarassing himself in the champions league with schoolboy errors and being sent off before giving away a penalty against Frankfurt in the Europa League.

What is Sarabia doing there and what has Asensio done this season to warrant his inclusion?

I had such high hopes for Asensio but he has not lived up to his potential at all.

Adama Traore may not have set the world on fire at Barcelona but on his day with his pace and power he can be unstoppable.

Then again it is not as if Ferran Torres has done any better but he does play well and score for Spain so Im not complaining too much about his inclusion.
