Barcelona are said to be getting nervous about Ronald Araujo’s contractual situation

Ronald Araujo is one of the most important parts of Xavi Hernandez’s Barcelona but the club are said to be getting a little nervous about his contractual situation according to Marca.

Barcelona are worried that another club is going to come in with a huge offer for the Uruguayan centre-back; they’re determined to renew his deal but have also made clear that the club’s financial health is paramount and no one player is bigger than Barcelona.

Araujo’s current deal expires in the summer of 2023 and the first offer Barcelona made to him was rejected. Talks are ongoing but the presence of interest from the Premier League, notably Chelsea and Manchester United, looms large.

Gavi’s situation is said to be a little more relaxed. Barcelona are confident that they’re going to get that deal over the line soon even though negotiations are ongoing. It’s thought the 17-year-old Andalusian will extend his deal until 2026.
