Barcelona edge closer to signing Milan midfielder Franck Kessie on a free transfer

Franck Kessie is one of Barcelona’s targets for this summer transfer window according to Diario Sport. The Milan midfielder’s contract expires at the end of this season and it’s understood that Barcelona are the best-placed club to secure his signature.

Paolo Maldini, Milan’s sporting director, has admitted that Barcelona are interested in their player. It’s thought the Italian club don’t want to break the bank to retain Kessie’s services and that Barcelona are willing to offer him around €6.5m per season.

Xavi Hernandez is understood to like the Ivorian international and believes he offers something different to an already strong midfield at Camp Nou. He’s fully behind the operation.

Kessie, 25, has earned 52 caps for the Ivory Coast national team and has scored five goals for his country. Valued at €48m by Transfermarkt, he’s provided 36 goals and 16 assists for Milan in the 211 appearances he’s made during his time at San Siro.
