Carlo Ancelotti says Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale are in contention to start on Thursday night.
Real Madrid are preparing for a clash with Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey, and they do so with a number of doubts.
Karim Benzema is an injury doubt, only joining in with team training today, while Casemiro and Fede Valverde could miss out through international duty.
Meanwhile, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo also face a race against time to return from internationals in time.
Fortunately for Real Madrid, there are a couple of fitness boosts, and among them is Gareth Bale.
Bale has only made three appearances for Los Blancos so far this season after two separate injury issues.
He is now back, however, and Real Madrid boss Ancelotti says he is in contention to start on Thursday night in the Copa del Rey clash with Athletic Club.
“It’s possible they will be starters, Asensio also, who has recovered well,” said Ancelotti in his pre-match press conference.
“Vinicius and Rodrygo return but they are 20 and not 60 like me (laughs). They can recover.”
Real Madrid not only have Thursday night’s clash to think about, but they also face Granada at home on Sunday.
The quick turnaround will likely require Ancelotti to use his squad.
Great. Looking forward to seeing what Bale and Hazard can do.
