Barcelona get official La Liga green light over Xavi appointment

Barcelona’s appointment of Xavi Hernandez has now been fully ratified.

Xavi was appointed as the new Blaugrana boss more than a week ago, the former midfielder returning to the club to replace Ronald Koeman.

It took some serious negotiating for Barca to get their man, with Mateu Alemany and Rafa Yuste spending the best part of a week in Qatar discussing terms with Al-Sadd.

But everything was agreed in the end and Barca got their man.

Xavi returned last week after around six years away from the club, and fans will be delighted to know that La Liga have now approved the appointment.

Given Barcelona’s financial position, every chunk of money they spend must be closely reviewed by La Liga’s economical department.

Barca had to spend around €5million to appoint Xavi, but the move has now been given the official green light, according to COPE.

That will be a relief for Barca, though, it’s not likely they would have made the appointment official without closely scrutinising it and making sure it was possible first.
