Real Madrid hit by new injury to striker

Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic has been hit with a fresh injury just days after recovering from Covid-19.

The Serbian striker has now suffered an adductor injury and as outlined by Marca, his absence means that Karim Benzema is the only fit forward available to play Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League this week.

Jovic has tendinosis in the adductor muscles of his right leg and Mariano Diaz remains unavailable with injury, meaning that Zinedine Zidane’s options in the position have once again been depleted.

Jovic has scored just twice for Madrid since his arrival in the summer of 2019, registering only around a thousand minutes in a frustrating spell.

Real Madrid news has been dominated in recent weeks by players who are unavailable with the resources at the club being stretched.

Madrid must defeat Gladbach on Wednesday to assure qualification for the Round of 16 and avoid their first ever group stage elimination of the competition.

However, a draw would be enough if Shakhtar Donestk fall to defeat at Inter on the final matchday.
