Getafe club president Angel Torres has confirmed there has been no official bid from Barcelona for striker Angel Rodriguez.
The Catalan giants are currently looking at potential attacking options, should La Liga grant them emergency permission to sign a forward, following long term injuries to Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez.
However, despite being heavily linked with a move for the 32-year old, Torres stated after Getafe’s 2-1 defeat at the Camp Nou, that there was no update.
“I did not discuss football with the Barcelona directors before the game,” he told reporters from Marca.
“We enjoyed a meal, and I did not raise the subject of Angel during it.”
“First they must gain authorisation to make an offer, but there is no change today.”
“Angel remains an important player for Getafe, and we want him to stay at the club.”
Angel has not featured regularly as a starter for Jose Bordalas’ side so far this season, however his goal scoring record off the bench has caught Quique Setien’s eye.
He has ten La Liga goals to his name so far in 2019-20, despite starting just six league matches.
The former Real Zaragoza forward is under contract at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez until 2021, but he is reported to be keen on a potential chance to move on if a offer comes in.
