Barcelona and Real Madrid are working together to stage an El Clasico friendly in the United States this year, according to ESPN.
The report, jointly written by Moises Llorens and Rodrigo Faez – close to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively – claims the plan is to stage a clash a non-competitive fixture in the States this summer.
It is claimed that Las Vegas and Los Angeles are among the cities who are interested in staging such a fixture, while they also cite a previous report by The Washington Post claiming it could be the opening game at the Allegiant Stadium – currently under construction and which is the future home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders franchise.
The two great rivals of Spanish football have played each other in the International Champions Cup in the United States – most recently in Miami in 2017 – and this fixture is anticipated to be staged between the end of the European Championships and Copa America.
