Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas is hopeful a strong finish to the campaign will see him return to the Spain national squad for this summer’s European Championships.

Marca report how the experienced forward is backing on the support of Luis Enrique to return him to the national setup ahead of the tournament.

Aspas has not featured in a Spain squad since June last year with Robert Moreno not counting on his services, despite having worked with him professionally in Vigo.

The Galician striker has been the most prolific Spaniard in La Liga over recent seasons – he has 83 league goals to his name since his return to Celta in the summer of 2015.

Alvaro Morata of Atletico de Madrid, Mikel Oyarzabal of Real Sociedad and Villarreal strikers Gerard Moreno and Paco Alcacer were the quartet most recently used by La Roja.

There are multiple others forwards hopeful of a call-up, including Rodrigo Moreno, Jaime Mata, Inaki Williams and Iker Munain.

Aspas has eight league goals this campaign for struggling Celta.
