Espanyol, Atletico Madrid talking with Milan’s Samu Castillejo

Atletico Madrid and Espanyol are both in talks to land Milan midfielder Samu Castillejo, according to a report in Diario Sport.

It is claimed that Espanyol are leading the race for the player and are keen to loan him until the end of the season, with Atleti also lodging an interest in the midfielder.

Castillejo, who joined Milan from Villarreal in the summer of 2018, has found playing time hard to come by this season, managing just eight appearances so far – four of which came from the bench.

The Rossoneri splashed €25m on the former Spain Under-21 international 18 months ago but are now appearing to want to cut their losses on the player.

Espanyol have picked up just 10 points from their opening rounds of actions and sit adrift at the foot of La Liga, with Abelardo Fernandez replacing Pablo Machin in the dugout – the latter of whom was dismissed following the recent defeat at Leganes.
