Marcelo out for Real Madrid for El Clasico clash

Real Madrid full-back Marcelo looks set to be ruled out of El Clasico against Barcelona this month, according to Marca.

The report claims that the defender has sustained muscular injury in the soleus and is now set to be out of action for up to three weeks – his fourth injury of the campaign.

The Brazilian was substituted off for Ferland Mendy in the 42nd minute of the 6-0 Champions League win over Galatasaray after sustaining a muscular leg injury but has subsequently recovered.

Marcelo provided two assists against the Turkish club in the 6-0 rout at the Bernabeu, feeding his fellow Brazilian, Rodrygo Goes, to net the opening two goals.

It is claimed that the experienced full-back wanted to carry on due to his level of performance but Zinedine Zidane opted to withdraw him from action to prevent further damage.

Mendy is now set to be first-choice left-back over the coming weeks while Eden Hazard has also been ruled out of the clash at the Camp Nou.
