Antoine Griezmann: It was an important night for Barcelona

Antoine Griezmann declared his joy after Barcelona defeated Borussia Dortmund by claiming it was an ‘important night’.

The Frenchman replaced Ousmane Dembele – who sustained yet another muscular injury – in the 25th minute of Wednesday night’s clash at the Camp Nou.

Griezmann was on target in the 3-1 victory alongside strikes from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi – meaning all three of the attacking trident on the pitch netted, before Jadon Sancho’s late consolation for the German side.

Former Atletico Madrid star Griezmann then took to Twitter to publish a photo of himself celebrating with Messi, alongside the caption: “Important night.”

Griezmann had started the first four Champions League games but curiously, his first European goal for Ernesto Valverde’s side arrived after coming on as a substitute.

The triumph secured the Blaugrana’s safe passage to the last 16 of the competition and confirmed their status as group winners – which could be significant in next month’s draw.
