La Liga remove pink ball after fan complaints

La Liga have withdrawn their new pink ball after just one weekend after fans complained that they could not see the ball.

The league had arranged to use the ball for all matches across the top two divisions between the end of October and the late stages in January.

However, there was multiple levels of criticism levelled at the ball across this weekend’s action – it’s first in use – that many people could not properly see the ball in action.

The ball had been presented by La Liga last week, claiming that it presented similar movement qualities to a golf ball and had an ‘18-panel heat-sealed structure’.

“La Liga and Puma want to clarify that the new pink colour La Liga ball unveiled last week was used in all matches across La Liga and the Segunda matches from the last round, because it was the first since being presented,” read a La Liga statement.

“From now on it will be used solely in those games played under adverse weather conditions, as was first intended.”
