Barcelona star Lionel Messi football’s greatest ever – La Liga chief Tebas

La Liga president Javier Tebas believes that Barcelona star Lionel Messi is the greatest ever player in the history of football.

The 32-year-old has starred for the Catalan giants across 16 successive seasons and has scored a remarkable 604 goals – a club record – in 692 appearances for the team.

Messi has won an incredible 34 trophies with the Blaugrana including 10 La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns and six Copa del Reys.

“Leo is the best in football history. He has been in the elite for 16 seasons and has always been at the highest level,” Tebas explained at the Cirque du Soleil show inspired by the footballer on Thursday night, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.

“Ten always reflects the best, the maximum, and Messi is the best and the highest possible standard in the history of football.

“Thankfully Leo is still in the league, it was natural that he thought about leaving because that situation (trial for tax irregularities) would have hurt him.

“It would be good for La Liga if Neymar was to return…although we must acknowledge that Messi is several steps ahead of him. Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho? Yes, of course the league would benefit from them.”
