Valencia request media blackout on protest

Valencia officials have requested that Spanish media outlets do not broadcast fan protests against the club, Onda Cero.

It is claimed that senior officials of Los Che have made the request to Mediapro – the company who broadcast Spanish football in the nation – do not include any coverage of the protests.

The report adds that a meeting was held between representatives of the club and the media company in which they requested that all images hinting at the fan unrest be left out of any broadcasts.

Valencia are reported to have asked for none of the fans chants against owner Peter Lim or president Anil Murthy to be broadcast.

Furthermore, they are said to have requested that none of the banners protesting against the ownership of the club be broadcast, while no fans chanting outside the stadium be shown either.

It follows on from a Valencia statement claiming president Murthy has received death threats amid a series of fan protests against the direction of the club off the pitch.
