Diego Simeone has rejected doubts about the strength of Atletico Madrid’s squad and insists they have cover in all areas.
It comes amid concerns that injuries or suspensions may leave the squad short this season if they are to launch a sustained challenge for the league title.
“We have a good squad, especially in attacking areas with Correa, Morata and Costa and the possibility of playing Joao in that position,” Simeone told a press conference, as cited by Marca.
“We are in consequence of what we have been talking about from three or four months ago, nothing is missing or not covered properly.
“In principle, Thomas (Partey) and Álvaro (Morata) are not going to participate. (Stefan) Savic rejoined the training well and will surely be among those brought for the squad.
“Correa? I have always seen him train in the best way and with the best predisposition for what the team needs, whether out wide or as a striker and this has not changed.
“He is important for us; he gives us a verticality and a change of pace about the speed that many of the players we have offensively don't have. Surely we will use him frequently this season.
