Rafinha injured ahead of Celta Vigo debut

Rafinha Alcantara will have to wait before making his debut for Celta Vigo after being sidelined with a calf injury, as confirmed by the club.

The midfielder has joined the Galician club on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona and this is the latest in a long line of injury layoffs.

However, a club statement has confirmed that he sustained a calf injury in Monday’s training session and is now set to miss a minimum of two weeks of action.

Rafinha has been blighted by similar injury problems over the years – he had a stint on loan at Inter for the second half of the 2017-18 season but featured in just five La Liga games last campaign before suffering a MCL knee ligament injury.

Celta have also said that David Costas, David Juncà, Okay Yokuslu and Juan Hernández are all continuing with their respective recovery processes from recent injury setbacks.
