Inaki Williams has penned a nine-year contract extension at Athletic Club Bilbao with a renewed €135m release clause.
Williams – who was linked with a move to Manchester United this month – has signed until 2028 at the Basque giants, with this contract falling just short of the 10-year deal Real Betis gave Denilson in 1997.
The 25-year-old forward has spent the entirety of his career at San Mames, netting 48 goals in a total of 204 first-team appearances.
“I have always said this is where I want to be,” Williams is cited as saying by El Mundo.
“Hopefully great things can come because what I want to make this club bigger, if possible.”
“This, as you can see, is my house, and all I want, I have it here. The club has always bet on me, it has given me everything, I feel it is my home.”
Born to Ghanaian parents, Williams grew up in the Basque Country and has become a fan-favourite at the club, while he has also been capped at international level for Spain.
Williams enjoyed a productive season in front of goal last campaign, hitting 14 goals in 41 outings for the team in what represented a return to form.
