Juventus want Barcelona defender Juan Miranda

Juventus and Barcelona are in discussions over the transfer of teenage defender Juan Miranda with a €15m deal possible, say reports.

El Mundo Deportivo say that negotiations are ongoing between the clubs with the Old Lady possibly also including add-ons in the deal, with the Blaugrana wanting a buyback option.

The 19-year-old, a native of Andalusia, began his career at Real Betis before joining the youth system of the Catalan giants aged 14.

The left-back made four first-team appearances for Ernesto Valverde’s side last season including the Champions League group stage game at home to Tottenham in December.

However, he did not feature in La Liga for the Blaugrana with Jordi Alba the club’s established left-back, while the club have been widely linked to an experienced back-up for next season.

Miranda has starred for Barca B this campaign with the report claiming Betis technical secretary Pedro Buenaventura has extensively scouted the Spain youth international.

The future of Betis left wing-back Junior Firpo is under much scrutiny as he has been linked with a number of Europe’s leading clubs, although the club may move for Miranda either way.
