Barcelona interest in Inter striker Lautaro Martinez – agent

The agent of Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has confirmed there is an interest in his client from Barcelona, but not yet an offer.

Earlier this month, Radio La Red claimed that the Blaugrana had identified the Argentine striker as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez.

The Argentina international shone at this summer’s Copa America for his nation and brought his potential to a wider audience following his debut campaign with the Nerazzurri.

“No one has called us but we know that there was a strong, important sounding and it is true that there is an interest on the part of Barcelona,” commented agent Alberto Yaqué, as cited by Diario AS.

“He has exceeded expectations even to himself , but I was not surprised because I know of his quality.”

The Milanese giants only paid Racing Club €14m plus bonuses for the striker a year ago – after he had been heavily linked to both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

Racing would be due 10 per cent of any future transfer, while it’s believed Lautaro does have a release clause worth €112m in his contract.

The striker scored nine goals and provided two assists in 35 competitive games for Inter, who are said to be keen to raise significant funds to sign Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.

Martinez’s club and international teammate Mauro Icardi has also been linked with a move away this summer.
