Antoine Griezmann will not join Atletico Madrid for pre-season training, despite the club demanding he does so this week.
The stand off between the French international and the club continues the cold war between them, as he looks to push through a move to FC Barcelona before the start of the 2019-20 La Liga season, according to Marca.
Griezmann stated at the end of last season that he wished to leave Atletico, and move to the Camp Nou, where he rejected a move to, less than 12 months before.
However, it has been revealed this week that Griezmann had already agreed a deal to move to the Spanish champions as far back as March 2019, whilst still under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano – and crucially, when his release clause was still at €200m, not at 120m, as it is now.
Atletico are now unwilling to accept anything lower than his full release clause, and have criticised both Griezmann and FC Barcelona over their conduct in the transfer saga.
Griezmann was informed via his agent that he would be expected to join the squad as they leave for the USA on July 7, and if the former Real Sociedad does strike, he will face disciplinary action from Atletico Madrid.
