The Spanish FA will dedicate more than €20m to women’s football for the upcoming 2019/20 campaign, report Cadena Cope.
The report also adds that all top-flight matches will be broadcast live on Spanish TV while a further three per matchday from the second tier will also be made available.
Atletico Madrid have won the last three editions of the competition while Barcelona have been runners-up in four successive years, while Athletic Club Bilbao are the record champions with nine league titles to their name.
The 16-team top tier is attracting growing interest in Spain although the major absentees are Real Madrid – who are yet to create a women’s team among increasing pressure.
Levante, Espanyol, Rayo Vallecano, Real Sociedad and Valencia are among the established clubs in the division while Real Betis, Sevilla and Malaga also attract growing interest.
