Milan held an ‘optimistic’ meeting with Real Madrid as they hope to land trio Dani Ceballos (pictured), Martin Odegaard and Borja Mayoral, say Diario AS.
Yesterday, El Mundo Deportivo cited reports from ‘several Italian media’ which claims the Rossoneri’s Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban are travelling to the Spanish capital to discuss a deal.
“The trip has gone well, we always bring good news for (the new Coach, Marco) Giampaolo, we are optimistic for this Milan,” Maldini is cited as saying by the fresh report, in Milan airport.
It is claimed the duo from the Milanese giants met with Madrid president Florentino Perez and the general manager, José Ángel Sánchez.
The report claims that Spain Under-21 international Dani Ceballos is at ‘the top of the agenda’ for the Rossoneri but they have also enquired for Mayoral and Odegaard.
Other reports in Spain suggest Norwegian Odegaard has strong interest from Bayer Leverkusen, Real Sociedad and Ajax but Milan may now trump the deal while Mayoral spent las tseason on loan at Levante.
It is claimed that Madrid’s asking price for Ceballos stands at €50m even though they have personally informed him that they can leave this summer.
Ceballos scored a golazo for Spain Under-21s against Italy on Sunday – but was unable to prevent La Rojita from falling to defeat – to once again place his future under the spotlight.
Ceballos joined Madrid from Betis for €16m in 2017 but has started just 17 times in La Liga and just twice in the Champions League and has often appeared to be a fringe figure.
The Spain international started and scored in March’s 3-2 victory over Huesca – his first home goal for the club – but was selected just once more in the 10 matches since.
Madrid have spent over €300m on five new signings this summer but so far have only sold Marcos Llorente and have a hugely bloated 36-man first-team squad.
