No FC Barcelona move for Gianluigi Buffon

FC Barcelona will not be making a summer move for veteran goal keeper Gianluiigi Buffon after his release from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Buffon signed a one-year deal with the French side at the start of the 2018-19 season, and he is keen to play on for another year, but that will not be at the Camp Nou, according to a report in Mundo Deportivo.

The 41-year old could return to his first professional side Parma, where he played between 1995 and 2001, before moving onto make over 500 appearances fo Juventus in 17 years.

Mundo Deportivo claim to have contacted a club source, that denies the claims of Sky Italia, that contact had been made between FC Barcelona and Buffon's representatives.

Ernesto Valverde will be on the look out for a new back up keeper as Dutch international Jasper Cillessen has expressed a wish to leave the club to gain first team football elsewhere.

The former Athletic Bilbao boss is likely to keep faith with Marc Ter-Stegen as first choice for the 2019-20 season, but he will want an experienced figure alongside third choice Inaki Pena.
