Gareth Bale wants to stay at Real Madrid

Gareth Bale has told the Real Madrid board that he intends to stay at the club for the 2019-20 season.

According to reports in Diario AS this weekend, the Welsh international instructed his agent Jonathan Barnett to inform the club's hierarchy of his desire to stay, but has also spoken to them personally.

Bale has been the subject of transfer speculation since the return of Zinedine Zidane to the club, and the Frenchman is reported to be willing to allow Bale to leave to finance a sustained summer spending spree.

Bale is contracted to the Santiago Bernabeu until 2022, and given his high wages and transfer value, it would take a huge bid to bring him away from the Spanish capital.

However, according to this update, Bale has told the club not to open talks with any potential buyers as he is not interested in moving and wishes to see out his Los Blancos contract.

The former Tottenham player is even willing to play a secondary role at the club next season, as he is unwilling to disrupt his family, who are settled in Madrid.

If Bale does stay,it could mean that Lucas Vazquez, Brahim Diaz, Raul de Tomas and Borja Mayoral are moved on, as Zidane looks to strengthen his squad with new faces.
