Barcelona eye Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford

Barcelona are not ruling out an audacious attempt to sign Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford this summer, say Diario Sport.

The 21-year-old is developing into one of the most coveted footballers in world football, 45 goals in 170 first-team appearances for the Red Devils.

Rashford, who also has netted six goals at international level for England, is said to be the strongest option to reinforce the Blaugrana’s attack this summer.

It is said that the England international can operate in all three areas of an attacking system currently deployed by Barca boss Ernesto Valverde.

The report cites the strong relationship between the boards of each club and claims that a €100m deal could be possible this summer.

The futures of Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele are under scrutiny this summer while Luis Suarez may need to be replaced as first-choice in the coming years.

The striker’s current deal at Old Trafford expires in June 2020 with reports that he is negotiating a new long-term contract, increasing his wage packet from €80k per week to €300k per week.

Rashford was involved in United’s Champions League exit to Barcelona at the quarter-final stage this season.
