Sevilla move for Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon

Sevilla have made contact with Real Madrid over a possible transfer of full-back Sergio Reguilon this summer, say reports in Spain.

The defender has risen to prominence this season for Los Blancos having become a regular for the club’s Castilla side over the past few campaigns.

Diario AS cite a report in Cadena Ser that the Andalusian club believe the 22-year-old could be available should Madrid sign Ferland Mendy, with Marcelo already at the club.

Alaves, Leganes and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked to Reguilon but Julen Lopetegui’s appointment at Sevilla is thought to give them the edge.

The former Spain boss coached the left-back at Madrid and is said to have given his seal of approval to Sevilla’s attempts to land him.

Reguilon started 21 games for the outgoing European champions this season including four in the Champions League but had fallen out of favour under the returning Zinedine Zidane who preferred Marcelo in the position.

The futures of Marcelo – who has been linked to Juventus – and Theo Hernandez, currently on loan at Real Sociedad, are under scrutiny in the Spanish capital.
