Real Madrid could break spending record this summer

Real Madrid could be set to break their annual transfer spend this summer, with a squad overhaul expected in the coming weeks, according to Marca.

Manager Zinedine Zidane has indicated that he is willing to make major changes ahead of the 2019-20, and their record of €254m from 2009, which brought Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Kaka to the club, could be smashed.

Los Blancos have already spent €95m on pre-agreed transfers, with Rodrygo and Eder Militao both arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu from Santos and Porto respectively.

Zidane's No.1 target Eden Hazard is expected to costing the region of €100m, as despite only having a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are under no pressure to sell their star asset.

Luka Jovic, who has also been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital would cost around €60m from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, bringing their spending to over €255m.

Zidane has also been linked with moves for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, Tottenham's Danish international Christian Eriksen and Lyon full back Ferland Mendy.
