Real Madrid’s Vinicius: “It was a great year for me”

Real Madrid Vinicius Junior has reflected on a ‘great year’ for him on a personal level and insists the club ‘will win again’.

The teenage Brazilian forward arrived at the outgoing European champions last summer and made an exciting impression in his debut season for the club.

The 18-year-old netted four goals across 20 starts for Los Blancos, the majority of which came under Zinedine Zidane’s predecessor Santiago Solari – before a late season injury.

“It was a great year for me,” Vinicius told an interview with Marca in Japan.

“I started with the Castilla, but I knew that could happen and that would be the case, then I went to the first team, I started playing and I learned a lot there.

“It was a shame that we were not strong in any of the three competitions, but the team had won three Champions League titles in a row and this, unfortunately, was something that could happen.

“We all hope things will go better next season and that the team will return to our best version. We will win again.

“We have to rest, but I want to start all over again and up until now in Japan I have noticed the love of the Madridistas, I am glad that the fans have liked my performances, it encourages me a lot.”
