Sergio Reguilon: “I will fight for Real Madrid stay”

Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon insists he will “fight to stay” at the club amid reports he could leave this summer.

The defender has risen to prominence this season for Los Blancos having become a regular for the club’s Castilla side over the past few campaigns.

The 22-year-old started 21 games for the European champions this season including four in the Champions League but had fallen out of favour under the returning Zinedine Zidane who preferred Marcelo in the position.

“It's still early to know what will happen, all I know is that I've fought a lot to be in the first team of Real Madrid and that I have a contract in force,” Reguilon said, as cited by El Espanol.

“I do not know what's going to happen, but I'm very happy and calm.

“I work every day to play as much as possible, both for my club and for the national team, and that is a decision for the Coach.

“I look at myself, I give my best and I wish them good luck in the European Championship, I will continue working so that every day they can call me some day in the national team.”

The futures of Marcelo – who has been linked to Juventus – and Theo Hernandez, currently on loan at Real Sociedad, are under scrutiny in the Spanish capital.
