Osasuna clinch promotion back to La Liga

Osasuna have been promoted to La Liga following a two-year absence, following Granada’s win at Albacete on Monday night.

Los Rojillos were last promoted to the Spanish top flight in 2016 but spent just one season in the division before being relegated back down to La Liga 123 the following campaign.

Osasuna’s successful promotion campaign has been based on their remarkable home form at El Sadar – they have won 17 of their 19 home games this campaign including each of their last 15.

Jagoba Arrasate’s side lead second-placed Granada by four points with just three games of the season remaining with Albacete, in third, six points further back.

Granada – who were relegated in 2017 along with the Navarre-based side – need just one more victory from three matches to clinch their promotion back to the Spanish top flight.

This is the eighth promotion in Osasuna’s history and they were ever present in La Liga between the 2000/01 and 2014/15 campaigns, while they were Copa del Rey runners-up to Real Betis in 2005.
