Quique Setien to leave Real Betis

Quique Setien and Real Betis looks set to part ways later today following the end of the 2018-19 La Liga season.

Setien, 60, oversaw a final day 2-0 win at Real Madrid, however he stated in his post match press conference that decision would be made later today about his future.

"In a few hours time, the club will issue a statement regarding my future.

"I am pleased with how the season has gone for the team.

"Of course we are disappointed not to qualify for Europe, which I think we had the opportunities to do so, but that is the situation."

Setien joined the Andalusian club at the start of the 2017-18 campaign, leading them to a 6th place finish – their highest since 2005, and a retunr to European football for the first time since 2013.

However a poor end of season run of four defeats in their final seven La Liga games of the season, meant they were overtaken by rivals Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad and Espanyol – with the latter securing the final Europa League spot.
