Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid won’t sign Antoine Griezmann

Paris Saint-Germain will not be the club to sign Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann this summer, according to a report in Marca.

The 28-year-old confirmed on Tuesday that he was leaving Los Rojiblancos this summer and was immediately heavily linked with both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Frenchman penned a long-term contract at Atleti last summer after rejecting interest from Barca, who had pursued a deal, but now his contract contains a €120m release clause.

However, the fresh reports points out Griezmann’s salary of €23m net per annum detracts from the possibility of a move to Paris, with the club trying to streamline costs this summer.

Additionally, they are no longer in the market for a forward as they already have Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani.

The report suggests the Uruguayan could form part of a swap deal to Atleti but this has many complications in itself and at the moment is not something that is being considered.

Real Madrid are not said to be considering an approach for the Frenchman, meaning that the most likely outcome at this stage is a move to Barcelona.
