Antoine Griezmann has told Atletico Madrid fans: “I will always remember you, I will always carry you in my heart.”
The 28-year-old confirmed on Tuesday that he was leaving Los Rojiblancos this summer and is now heavily linked with both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Frenchman penned a long-term contract at Atleti last summer after rejecting interest from Barca, who had pursued a deal, but now his contract contains a €120m release clause.
“I have made the decision to leave, to see other things and face other challenges,” Greizmann told fans directly via a video published on Atleti’s media channels.
“It has been hard for me to take that path, but it is what I feel and what I need.
“After talking with Cholo, then with Michelangelo and the people in the offices, I wanted to talk with you, the fans, because you have always given me a lot of support.
“It has been five incredible years, thank you very much for everything, I will always carry you in my heart.
“Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart and see you later.”
