Atletico Madrid fear Antoine Griezmann exit

Atletico Madrid fear that star forward Antoine Griezmann will may leave the club this summer, according to a report in Marca.

The 28-year-old penned a long-term contract at Los Rojiblancos last summer after rejecting interest from Barcelona, who had pursued a deal.

This fresh report claims the Atleti dressing room is preparing for the possibility of the forward leaving this summer in yet another high-profile departure.

Lucas Hernandez has already joined Bayern Munich while Diego Godin’s departure is confirmed, while Juanfran Torres is also said not to be renewing his current deal.

The Frenchman has an annual salary of €10m, significantly reducing his number of suitors, although his release clause this summer was rumoured to have fallen from €200m to €120m.

“Griezmann is our captain and he is important for us, so I am not worried at all,” Atleti boss Simeone told Fox Sports programme 90 Minutos, as cited by Marca.

“I am not in his body so I cannot tell you what he is thinking, but he has two years left on his contract and he is continuing to grow and improve here.”

The 28-year-old has scored 21 goals across all competitions this season for Simeone’s side.
