Atletico Madrid decision on Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata

Atletico Madrid face a decision on Alvaro Morata’s future this summer with the striker currently on loan from Chelsea, say Diario AS.

The most likely option is that Los Rojiblancos deposit the €18m with the West London club to sign the player on loan for the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign, says the report.

However, there are options still available for the player to return to Stamford Bridge or for Atleti to negotiate over a permanent transfer.

The Spain international initially joined Atleti on a loan deal in January and has participated in 16 of the 17 matches for the club since, netting six goals in the process.

His general level of performance has been lauded with the overwhelming opinion being that he has improved from his unhappy stint at the current Europa League finalists.

Chelsea may look to return players who are currently out on loan after FIFA upheld their transfer ban across the next two transfer windows, ensuring they cannot sign any new players.

However, Atleti have the final word and are expected to retain the former Real Madrid and Juventus man.
