Antoine Griezmann ‘a serious target’ for Barcelona

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann remains ‘a serious transfer option’ for Barcelona this summer, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

The 28-year-old penned a long-term contract at Los Rojiblancos last summer after rejecting interest from the Catalan giants, who had pursued a deal.

However, the Frenchman has a €120m release clause that can be activated this summer and the report outlines how Barca now need to reinforce their attack.

Replacements have not been found for Paco Alcacer and Munir El Haddadi, with Kevin-Prince Boateng set to leave this summer when his loan deal ends.

There is also significant question marks over the future of playmaker Philippe Coutinho, which could potentially free up space for a new addition into the club’s attacking ranks.

However, last month Atleti president Enrique Cerezo refuted any talk of the forward’s exit: “No he is not 1000 percent likely to stay at Atleti, he is 2000 percent likely.

“And we have not spoken with Lionel Messi. You are talking about Griezmann, not Messi? But we have not spoken to Messi – the two situations are the same.”

The 28-year-old has scored 21 goals across all competitions this season for Diego Simeone’s side.
