Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets believes that his side were simply outplayed by Liverpool, as they dropped out of the Champions League after a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp's side overpowered Barcelona and reversed a 3-0 advantage, with two goals each for Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum, as Barcelona surrendered a three goal advantage in the knockout stage for a second year in succession.
"They were better than us.
"They attacked the game, and even though we had chances, it was not to be."
Manager Ernesto Valverde was cautious in his approach to the game, resting his entire first eleven for their defeat at Celta Vigo at the weekend, however they were unable to banish the ghosts of Roma in 2018.
"I apologise to everyone that what happened against Roma, has happened again.
"It is hard to take, but when a team presses you like this, an wins second balls, it is hard to react.
"Tonight is very hard to take, and it is difficult to find the words, and all i can do is apologise."
