Luis Suarez trains alone ahead of Liverpool clash

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez trained alone on Friday as the club continued their preparations for the trip to Anfield in the Champions League in midweek.

Manager Ernesto Valverde had already confirmed that the Uruguayan international would not be included in the travelling party to Celta Vigo this weekend, but he is undergoing a specialised training plan until the end of the season.

La Blaugrana are keen to protect the 32-year old and the club's medical staff are working with both him and captain Lionel Messi at the moment to co-ordinate a schedule that reduces their risk of injury.

Suarez is still likely to play against his former side, however if Valverde is advised otherwise by the physios he could be used as either a substitute or be replaced if Barcelona hold off the challenge of Jurgen Klopp's side.

Barcelona lead 3-0 from the first leg, but given their elimination at the same stage last season, after collecting a three goal first leg lead, they will be cautious in their approach against the Premier League side.
