Gareth Bale omitted from Real Madrid squad to face Villarreal

Gareth Bale has been left out of the Real Madrid squad to host Villarreal on Sunday night.

The Welsh international continues to be the subject of transfer speculation as the season reaches its conclusion, and manager Zinedine ZIdane did not indicate an injury was the reason for his omission.

The former Tottenham man has featured in all eight of Zidane's games as boss, following his return to the club back in March – but Bale is consistently rumoured to be on the move away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Sergio Ramos remains out of action with a calf injury, with Alvaro Odriozola, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema all missing through injuries.

However Brazilian teenager Vinicius Junior is back in the match day squad for the first time in a month after he recovered from a thigh injury.
