West Ham eye move for Alaves’ Guillermo Maripan

West Ham are interested in a summer move for Alaves defender Guillermo Maripan, according to a report in Marca earlier today.

The Chilean international has impressed for the Basque side this season, making 22 La Liga appearances in one of the tightest defences in the Spanish top flight in 2018-19.

He has formed a solid partnership with Victo Laguardia at the heart of Abelardo Fernandez's defence, and his manager has consistently spoken of his desire to keep Maripan at the Estadio Mendizorroza.

The main stumbling block for the Hammers could be a disagreement of valuation of the 26-year old, with Alaves keen to see a return on their investment of €3m just two years ago.

He does have a €25m release clause on a contract that has two more years to run, and club director Sergio Fernandez confirmed they would only consider offers that meet that amount.

However, according to the report, Manuel Pellegrini's side are only willing to pay in the region of €11m for the 24-year old.
