Atletico Madrid are hopeful on signing Nice defender Youcef Atal but face competition from Chelsea and Bayern Munich, say reports.
The Telegraph reports the 22-year-old has an asking price of €40m, with Chelsea’s interest dependent upon their appeal of the FIFA-imposed transfer ban on the club.
The Algerian netted a remarkable hat-trick in the recent 3-0 win over Guingamp which has brought him to wider attention, with boss Patrick Viera moving to insist he was not for sale.
Atal only joined Nice last summer from Belgian club Kortrijk and is described by the report as a ‘quick and skilful dribbler’, who is equally adept at playing in midfield.
It is reported that the versatile player wants to play in the Champions League.
