Groningen demand more from Barcelona for Ludovit Reis

Groningen have confirmed they are in negotiations with Barcelona over the transfer of teenage midfielder Ludovit Reis.

Reports have claimed the Catalan giants are close to agreeing a €2.5m deal for the 18-year-old, but the Dutch club insist they will hold out for a greater sum.

Reis has made 46 first-team appearances for the Eredivisie club and has impressed the Blaugrana’s scouts, who have been monitoring him for twelve months.

“We will not sell our key players cheaply,” Groningen chief executive Hans Nijland told RTV Noord, as cited by Diario AS.

“Right now there are talks but we have not reached an agreement and that fee (€2.5m) is not realistic, it is cheap.

“I will not discuss the sums being talked about over this.”

The Netherlands Under-19 international initially came to the nation from Slovakia, where both of his parents originated.
