Sergio Reguilon set for new Real Madrid contract

Real Madrid are in discussions to extend the contract of full-back Sergio Reguilon, who has broken into the first-team squad this season, report Marca.

The defender has risen to prominence this season for Los Blancos having become a regular for the club’s Castilla side over the past few campaigns.

The 22-year-old has started 19 games for the European champions this season including four in the Champions League, while he had the particular trust of previous Coach Santiago Solari.

Reguilon, whose current deal expires in 2020, had displaced the out-of-form Marcelo in Madrid’s starting line-up.

“It is clear that this is a dream – and I am going to hang on to it for as long as I can,” Reguilon told reporters back in February, when asked about his football in the Spanish capital.

The futures of Marcelo – who has been linked to Juventus – and Theo Hernandez, currently on loan at Real Sociedad, are under scrutiny.
