Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena insists there is a title race in La Liga regardless of his side’s result against Atletico Madrid this weekend.
Ernesto Valverde’s side hold an eight-point advantage over Atleti in the title race, with Real Madrid four points further back with a game in hand.
“Regardless of the result against Atletico, the title race is not over,” Alena told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“The league title is never settled until its mathematically over and the Coach has reminded us of the situation three years ago (when Barca only just won the league ahead of Real Madrid).
“Lionel Messi’s free-kick? It was spectacular, it was an incredible goal.”
There are only eight rounds of matches remaining in this campaign.
