Real Madrid prioritise Eden Hazard, not Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid are prioritising signing Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard this summer as their main arrival, report El Mundo Deportivo.

The Belgium international has long been linked with a move to the European champions and last month he told the media that he has “already made a decision” over his future.

The latest report claims Madrid prefer the former Lille star over Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe, following on from a similar line from Marca earlier this week.

It comes in the wake of France Football stating Los Blancos were preparing a world record €280m bid for the France striker, but indications in Spain say this is not the case.

Hazard, 28, has never hidden his admiration for Zinedine Zidane and the Frenchman’s reappointment in Madrid’s hotseat could prove decisive in the approach.

A report last week in Diario AS claimed the player has no doubts about the move while they believe that a fee between €100m-120m is likely to be agreed between the two clubs this summer.

The playmaker has also said this year that he “did not want any regrets” on his career in the latest of a long-running line of hints that he would be open to a move to Madrid.

Last month, The London Evening Standard said the Chelsea star, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2020, is now tipped for a move to the Spanish capital this summer.

Madrid are likely to redouble their efforts in the close season, in order to have the former Lille star in place ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
