Barcelona are upping their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic with their main sports management team scouting him in Milan, say reports.
The club’s management trio of Eric Abidal, Pep Segura and Ramon Planes travelled to the Italian city on Thursday night to see the striker face Inter in the Europa League.
Diario Sport cite a report from Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, which outlines how the three saw the Bundesliga side advance to the quarter-finals.
Last month, Marca cited a report in Frankfurter Allgemeine that the Blaugrana and the player have ‘laid the foundations for a deal’ although stressed there was no agreement yet with the German club.
Subsequent follow-up reports in both El Mundo Deportivo and ESPN FC then verified the news of the Blaugrana’s interest, as they seek a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez.
The Bosnian-born striker has 15 goals in 17 league starts this season, more than anyone else in the division apart from Robert Lewandowski, while he has also netted seven goals in the Europa League this campaign.
The 21-year-old joined Frankfurt from Benfica in 2017 having begun his career at Serbian giants Crvena Zvezda and is now said to be being monitored by the Catalan giants.
Now a full Serbian international, Jovic is also said to be gaining attention from both Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
Frankfurt are expected to sign the striker outright from Benfica this summer before potentially selling him straight away to make a profit.
