Philippe Coutinho: My Barcelona showings not good enough

Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho admitted his performances in recent weeks ‘have not been good enough’ for the club’s standards.

The Brazilian has cut a frustrated figure for the Catalan club this season but started and scored in Wednesday’s impressive 5-1 Champions League victory against Lyon.

“My recent performances have not been good enough,” Coutinho told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“I know I need to keep improving, that is why I have come here, I try to do my best and maximise my performance level here.

“It is important to build on this performance and now focus fully on the next game, but I am very happy for the performance, victory and qualification for the next round.”
